Work in Progress – Eddie Elephant – Illustration

I was inspired by these sweet little pachyderms! – Vintage from the 1960s – The Etsy seller (VintageByJade) has this write up – “Vintage purple salt glazed ceramic elephant mom and 2 chained babies. Made in Japan by Arnart Creations.”

Aren’t they adorable? Then, out of the blue … I stumbled on this …

So what was a muse to do? Start drawing of course!

left my sketchbook at home? EEK emergency paper grocery bags to the rescue (again).

Still playing with the hues of the colors. My ‘Edward Elephant” shall be sporting a blue/gray and I really want a rich deep tone for the balloons. Illustration and sketching are always the beginning steps. Since this project will become part of Poetic Pastries wall decor or art print series – the final rendering of my design is going to take place with cgi. Some of you may have experienced the journey of my baby shower invitations and the baby elephant I created for my stationery portfolio; recall Poetic Pastries released her into clipart free common use. Stay tuned to see the finalization of little Eddie – I have ‘high’ hopes!
